The Niagara Hiking Company.

The Niagara Gorge is 7.1 miles of prehistoric strata rock split by the mighty Niagara River 18,000 years ago. It is home to the American, Horseshoe and Bridal Falls, vast wildlife, an amazing geological history and the Niagara Hiking Company.

While the entire planet is aware of Niagara Falls, less people are familiar with all that the Niagara Gorge has to offer. The Niagara Hiking Company is proud to share this world class natural destination with our customers through day hikes with licensed trail guides. We lead hiking parties down a 530-foot descent to the Class Six rapids of the swirling Niagara Whirlpool and then a climb surrounded by the echoes of the past, with amazing views along the way.

The Niagara Hiking Company offers out-and-back day hike packages with a range of distance options and destination amenities.  Our licensed guides have a passion for exploring the Niagara River line and sharing the experience with anyone willing and able to join us on an adventure. We recognize the powerful effect that a few hours in nature can have on a person’s well-being and are here to provide a safe and comfortable opportunity for you to experience the power and beauty of our backyard.

Here. Now.

Our hikes are a celebration of the Niagara Gorge and the gift of time spent outdoors. Life moves and changes quickly. We lose too much of our limited time to distractions that do not actually matter. The river line of the Niagara Gorge is peaceful, powerful, and restorative. Our goal is to create a unique and immersive hiking experience for our guests. Put your distractions aside and on focus nature, your hiking companions and the exact moment you are living in.

Reserve Your Adventure.

Safety.

Trail Safety is the first priority. Niagara Hiking Company Hiking Guides are licensed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, certified in First Aid and CPR by the American Red Cross, and are licensed in boater safety by the New York State Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Our guides have completed a minimum of 100 hours of hiking on the Niagara Gorge Trails and have extensive knowledge of the local terrain. The Niagara Hiking Company is committed to planning ahead and being prepared. We communicate passage of trail checkpoints with a team member at our headquarters just in case assistance is needed, so the locations of our hiking groups are always known.

What to Expect.

We will meet at the free parking lot before the hike and proceed to the trailhead for a quick gear check and safety briefing. All of our hikes are rated between easy and moderately difficult and we will move at a pace that the group is comfortable with. Water, granola and fruit are also provided as part of each hike.

There are two Niagara Hiking guides assigned to each group with a maximum group size of six people. On the trail, we will stop to learn about the history of the gorge, check out different vantage points along the Niagara River line and get photos along the way. Our guides are able to take candid or posed photos of you on the trail and either email or airdrop them to you at the end of the hike. Each hiking package also includes a rest point along the water to reflect, hydrate, take in the sights and enjoy the provided snacks.
